Dolphin Safari

I just went on a dolphin & whale safari. I saw common dolphins & sun-fish. We went along side a pod of dolphin. On the boat you could go in the front & look below the netting & see fish. At one point the crew opened a hatch & we went in & it was a small area with only windows & a place to kneel. It was very cold but we brought jackets. My two favorite parts were when we saw dolpins & when we got brownies!!!

My new dog!!!

Katie is my new beagle mix. At 10 years old you think she would be sleeping the day away, WRONG!!! Running, barking, & a little sleeping. Her favorite place to sleep is my beanbag with her blanket & bunny. When she plays with her bunny or blanket she tug-a-wars you with it then if she wins then she runs along head held high, finds a good spot then paws & head down, butt in the air chews hard but soft.Oh man can she bark! Loud & clear! But she is also very sweet (when not around cats). Cats to her are like chew toys, Katie to the cats an enemy that will never be trusted. If you are liking the sound of beagles from please read the following: Beagle Information Beagle Facts Temperament Playful, good natured, and very sociable, the Beagle is a dog that is well suited to inexperienced dog owners as well as the more experienced. These are dogs that are well suited to households with children, as they get along well with kids. They also get on well and enjoy the company of other dogs in their pack. They have a tendency to chase smaller animals. The Beagle is a dog with bags of love and attention to give to his family. He is always happy to see you when you come home, and will wag his tail of and greet you with kisses. He is a dog that loves to explore and follow his nose! Sometimes his curious streak (what is that lovely smell and where is it coming from?) can lead him into trouble and even danger. Beagles love food and are always "starving hungry", or so they pretend, which makes them prone to obesity. So you must only feed him the right amount of food to fulfill his daily nutritional requirements, and no more. Obedience training of a consistent nature is essential for this breed, as he can otherwise be stubborn and this can make it hard to get him to obey you. Younger Beagles love to chew, so don't leave this breed alone with your best furniture. The Beagle has a bright and cheerful disposition, and is a great companion dog. With strangers the Beagle can be vocal and territorial and their alertness and tendency to bark as a warning makes them good watchdogs. This breed loves to eat and when steal food whenever given the chance. He can also be very difficult to housebreak. The Beagle's tendency to wander off and explore means that you should ensure that he is in a very safe and secure, fenced area if he is allowed to play off the leash. He is an excellent digger and climber, and will dig under, or climb his way over, the fence if he sets his mind on it, so you must ensure that your fence is secure enough to keep him secure. Beagle Appearance There are two sized of Beagle, and in terms of height these vary from up to t13 inches and from 13-15 inches. The weight of a Beagle can vary from 16-30 pounds depending on his height. These dogs have short, sleek, and dense coats, and the coloring of the coat can vary and includes red and white, tan and white, lemon and white, blue shading, and the most common, which is tri-colored with black, tan and white. The ears of the breed fall to the sides of the face, and these dogs have wallowing dark eyes and an intelligent expression. Beagle Grooming The short, sleek coat of the Beagle does not take much in terms of maintenance, and a quick brushing and occasional wipe down with a damp cloth should help to keep the coat in good, glossy condition. You should ensure that you clean the ears of the Beagle regularly to reduce the chances of infections. He is a moderate year round shedder. Beagle Health Problems and Life Expectancy The Beagle has a life expectancy of around 10-14 years. There are various health problems and issues linked to this breed, and some of these include thyroid problems, epilepsy, spinal problems, cataracts, glaucoma, retinal atrophy, hip dysplasia, and bleeding disorders. The parents of your Beagle puppy should have CERF and OFA certificates. Beagle History The Beagle is a dog that originates from Great Britain, and boasts a history that spans centuries, having been around since King Henry VIII was on the throne. Once bred for hare hunting, these dogs became very popular in the United States in the mid-twentieth century, becoming the most popular breed in America in the 1950s. The breed was registered with the AKC in 1885. If you adopt a pet then be smart & adopt from the Humane Society.

Happy Birthday, Elaine!

Happy 24th Birthday to my adopted manatee Elaine!! ELAINE was born September 12, 1985 to Emma. She had two brothers Boomer and Shane. Unfortunately, her mom and brothers were all killed by boat strikes. ELAINE became the Blue Spring State Park's third female to calve at the age of five, during the 1990-1991 season when she gave birth to Ester. In 1993, she had another daughter, named Else. In 1995, she brought another new calf to Blue Spring, but park rangers were unable to determine if the calf was male or female. ELAINE has been known to get into her fair share of mischief! You can learn more about manatees and how to help them at: www.savethemanatee.org.

Adopt a Pet video

Between three and four million dogs and cats are euthanized each year in animal shelters in the United States. But if more families looking for a pet this year would adopt their new furry friend from a shelter, we could put an end to this tragedy. Please click on the link below to see a sad but cute video about all the pets who need adopting. Thanks! http://action.humanesociety.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=3661.0

My pets ll

LIGHTNING.....is a cat I have known forever & is still alive today. She was my grandma`s cat until my grandma passed away, then I took her. She`s 17 or 18 now. She got name her by being able to run like lightning on all three of her legs. SHEP....is the first dog I got. We got him at the Humane Society. They found him & his sisters & brothers in a dumpster. Shep`s old name was Buddy. Shep got his name from the elephant on George of the Jungle. DAISY....is a beautiful Maine Coon who thinks she is queen. She used to live under my friend`s shed. My friend's kids fell in love with her but one of her kids is allergic to cats so they gave her to me. She got her name because it rhymes with lazy. ZOEY....is a sweet little mini-dachshund who loves to cuddle. My dad got her on Valentine's Day as a gift a couple of years ago. Zoey`s name was going to be Daisy but my cat`s name was already Daisy. So Zoey fits perfectly. BUDDY....hyper, H-Y-P-E-R, hyper! I got Buddy because of my aunt. She went & got her dachshunds pregnant & wanted us to have babies so she gave us Pooder. As soon as possible after I got him I changed his name to Buddy because he is Zoey's buddy.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Sam & Mikey recently watched "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" at their dad's house. Sam especially liked the introduction, since it is about dolphins. As the second most-intelligent creatures on Earth, they had attempted to warn mankind about the planet's impending destruction, but humans had interpreted the dolphins' communications as performance tricks. The dolphins considered their mission a failure and left the planet. Mikey especially liked their final message to humans: "So long, and thanks for all the fish."

My 10th Birthday Party!

For my 10th birthday party, we had Wild Things Science and Animal Explorations come to my house. These are some of the animals they brought. Sonya the sulphur-crested cockatoo dancing!... My step-dad Andy volunteered to let Sofia on his shoulder, but she didn't want to come off afterward!
Here is me trying to feed Curly the Rex Rabbit some lettuce, but he wasn't hungry.
The animals didn't agree with us at the time! I mean, look, the bird didn't want to come off Andy's shoulder and the rabbit didn't want to eat! Huff n' Puff the African Pygmy Hedgehog just peeking out. He's peeking out... again. Itty & Bitty the sugargliders peeking out of their sack. Wali the Blue-Tongued Skink walking around. Me feeding raisins to Gizmo the South American Chincilla.

Mika the Sable Footed European Ferret.

Mika getting riled up!

Mika finally calming down.

The kids who came to my party: (back) Zach, Ashley, Hali & Mikey; (front) Shyrene, me Sam, Caroline, Hannah, Adam & Kaulin.

And last but not least, my birthday cake!
